Does it really matter what you believe?

Does it really matter what you believe? Does it really matter if you belong?

Some simple but effective lyrics from one of my favorite industrial groups: KMFDM. There is nothing much that I can say about this group that hasn't been said already. A bit of an acquired taste, KMFDM combines heavy guitars and synthesizers with industrial and techno beats. Male aggression meets feminine frailty; East meets West; Chaos meets Order. I find it a shame that this German group has not achieved the a level of success of either Marilyn Manson or Nine Inch Nails.

What's to like about them? Their music is aggressive, yet you could dance to it. Males and females are contributing members of the group. The men scream, and the women harmonize. Infectious guitar riffs amongst noise and static. Electronic percussion compliments live drums.

They have no shortage of material. KMFDM are prolific writers -- they have nearly released an album every year for the 20 years of their existence. Founding member Sascha Konietzko has provided direction to a sound that has grown and evolved over the years. Each album is unique in its' own right. I have been an avid fan for about ten years. I'd highly recommend Money, Angst, and Nihil to get an idea of what KMFDM has to offer.
