It is Labour Day weekend, this means that every fuel-dispensing kiosk is gouging us to put fuel in our vehicles. Now, due to Katrina and her aftermath, oil prices have hit record highs, which affects us, the consumer, directly.Petroleum companies can get away with charging us so much because we believe we are dependent on our vehicles.
How much longer will it be until the rest of us can no longer afford to drive our vehicles?
If I were a betting man, I would bet that oil prices won't go down significantly. We will just have to adjust to paying more and more on fuel every year, or go bankrupt trying to fill our cars with the black gold.

Perhaps if it gets high enough, it'll be worth it to companies to start reaching other fuels. BTW, we're at $3.00/gallon here.
Must be nice. Here, in the oil capital of Canada, we are paying $1.15 CDN per litre. Given unit conversions, that's approximately $3.66 US per gallon. The rst of Canada is paying 20 cents more than us.
